Geneva Negotiators Make Progress on Ukraine Framework
These deliberations convened key figures, including US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, President Donald Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff, Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner, US Army Secretary Daniel Driscoll, and a senior Ukrainian team.
Officials characterized the session as an “extensive and productive” assessment of the newest draft accords developed under Trump’s peace initiative.
In its statement, the White House noted that the exchanges were "candid and detailed," with each party carefully examining essential adjustments to the developing peace outline.
Ukrainian delegates affirmed that their primary issues—spanning security assurances, sustained economic growth, infrastructure resilience, freedom of navigation, and political autonomy—were thoroughly considered throughout the Geneva engagement.
As the White House reported, "Ukrainian representatives stated that, based on the revisions and clarifications presented today, they believe the current draft reflects their national interests and provides credible and enforceable mechanisms to safeguard Ukraine’s security in both the near and long term."
They emphasized that reinforced security-guarantee structures, non-aggression pledges, energy-sector stability, and reconstruction plans represent major improvements in the negotiations.
